window surrounds as standard -- lucky git!
looks kool but not sure on the back bumper
I wanted something a bit different to the 'GSi with speedlines look' but also diffferent to the 'Chav in mcdonalds car park look' too so i think the bumper suits it!

looking good mate keep up the good work also how old are you as you said ready for when your 17

to go with novadose side skirts also have a gsi spoiler & a kingdom back bumper as previously mentioned. Atm it has a badboy bonnet with astra gsi vents, meshed grill, dtm mirrors, cesaros & lowered 60mm all round on gmax springs & uprated shocks.

Looking good there - Badboy bonnet looks mean as ever :)
liking the alloys etc, but ditch them mirros and fit either standards or manta 400s :thumb:
i like the mirrors as standard ones stick out too much for my liking the dtms arent too in your face either like M3 ones etc.. Oh forgot to mention when i recieve the bumper all the cars going for a full respray in the same colour and the alloys are being resprayed in black. Then its a toad Ai606 alarm to protect it!

I think it will look good when its all together & sprayed but then again i could be wrong will have to see when its done! I just want something different really as everyone has standard bumpers & skirts these days.

Front bumper looks very tidy mate, nice to see someone going different from GSI kit or Snowplow SR! what colour are you goin to paint the whole thing? or just respray it red? just make sure you sort out that front panel hey mate, good luck with the rest of it anyway.
Btw that was just a trial fitting, it will soon be removed to repair the rust!
Yea it will be resprayed the same colour but im not too sure whether to have an orange pearl lacquer coat or not, opinions?
Glad you got the bumper and that your happy with it :)
It might be worth getting a new wing rather than trying to repair that one. Speak to the bodyshop about getting a replacement.
Pleasure doing business with you :) Good luck with the rest of the car.

what is the splitter on that front bumper?
what is the splitter on that front bumper?
It's a Mk4 Astra splitter.
craig green
10-01-08, 01:13 PM
No structural rot (in the wing) so stop the surface rust on the cross member in its tracks, although a new wing is preferable.
Bumper looks good, however I'm not struck on the idea of an Orange flip on a Red car. Most people polish their Red paint to avoid it going pale.
Looks good.

12-01-08, 01:31 AM
Orange pearl sounds like a very good idea imo, it'll go with the whole image of the car and will make the red paint stand out a bit, especially when it's all polished up nicley, just make sure the paint is done nicley else it'll let down the rest of the work, are you painting it yourself or getting a bodyshop to do it?
Sending it to a bodyshop up the road from me, i went up a few months back to look at other work hes done and it all looks really good quality. So im more than happy for him to do mine, hes coming up tomorrow to give me a quote and hopefully it'll be done before the end of Jan.

Done by the end of jan hey, sounds as though he's gonna crack on with it then hey, some places can take ages which is a pain if it's your daily driver, a local bodyshop had a mates car for 2 months!! fitted a bodykit and painted it, was a fairly nice job tbh but it leaves you a bit stuck if that's your only transport eh. really lookforward to seeing it painted mate, especially if you go for the orange pearl!! but in the end it's upto you mate, just out of interest if you dont mind me asking, how much are they charging for the respray?

car looks good but do you want to sell your wheels lol
ta mate :)
how much work are they to fit a gsi bumper?
Depends how you want it to sit. You can, as with most splitters, run them along the lip underneath the GSi bumper, but I wanted it to run in line with the bumper so it was a bit more work. Rather than working from the centre of the bumper and outwards, I lined the edge of the splitter up with the end of the bumper then trimmed it in the middle. I found that the finish on the end of the splitter was too good not to use. All you need is a small drill bit and some nuts and bolts. You can use self tapping screws I suppose, but I wanted to make sure the splitter was held in place as well as possible.
Looking forward to seeing the car all sprayed up Bola.

Didn't go for the orange pearl in the end, mainly due to the cost & i was too unsure to justify it! The car shouldnt be in the bodyshop too long either as hes a family friend so will work around me abit. The price doesnt mean much either matey as it was based on the fact that he owed us a few favours & i had helped on a few things too. Should be going in this wednesday! :D
Looking forward to seeing the car all sprayed up Bola.

The work is really good tbh, it needs a hole cutting in the bumper for the exhaust, the back & front bumpers dont fit too well either so he told me to take it back so he could sort that out. Also the door is rubbing on the skirts so that needs to be sorted...:thumb:

Just looking at the side profile pics; there is quite a gap between the rear bumper and the rear wheel, if I were you I'd fit a diferent rear bumper, say a novadose one. It just so happens I have one for sale, will do you a good price ;)

Yep still a few things that need doing to it. Its back at the bodyshop now having the bumpers fitted etc.. The engine will be staying as it is just a K&N and backbox will do for now. Will have an engine transplant later on though but not right now or ill just end up piling it! The interior is SRi with a sports steering wheel etc. Ill get some pics up when its finished as the interiors what needs doing the most now.
How much for ya wheels! lol
Theyre not going yet i love 'um! Thanks for the comments people!
looking ok not to keen on skirts or rear bumper but get on personal preferance you Drive it hard when you can
A bit of an update then, its now been to the bodyshop and had the bumpers fitted etc. Although they broke the exhaust that i had put on so they have replaced it with a similar one but im not sure wether i like it or not though!

looks really nice mate, so whats all the bodywork like now that they have sorted out the fit on the bumpers etc? like the sideskirts blended into the body, looks really smooth, all i'd do personally on the outside now is a aluminium fuel cap and bin the front indicators and put them in the bumper, is that just a smoothed GSI bumper? looks good.

17-03-08, 11:09 PM
Looks awsome mate
Mean as feck from the front as well, love it :)

Yeh looking good mate, defo put the fuel cap on imo, i wasnt sure about them before i put mine on but it really did look good, it was a mocal one from demon tweeks, the cheapo ones however are best avoided, as regards to the sideskirts and front bumper that is what i'm doing on mine, in the process of smoothing the bumper out at the moment. So what are the plans for the car next? and what is the idea eventually such as engine transplant etc.
DW you got a project thread? Mine is only a cheapo fuel cap to be fair, thinking of getting a black one though will probs suit my car best. Plans for the car now is to crack on with the interior and then start to rebuild a 1.6 gte/gsi engine to put in it soonish. Will hopefully end up with a redtop in it, ill have to wait until i can afford the insurance for it though!
DW-Nova
25-03-08, 09:19 PM
Nah i havnt got a project thread at the moment, to be honest i havnt done anything to my car in ages, it's just sat in the garage in kit form, its going to be a long term project, rwd with a saab turbo engine and manta gbox. your plans sound good, will be a nice daily driver with the GTE engine in, bet the 1.2 is doing your head in. So what are you doing to the interior? total overhaull or just a spruce up?
erm sri red/grey interior in mint condition :D, sri speedo clocks, mountenay steering wheel, tvr alloy indicator/wiper stalks, sparco gearnob, imitation leather retrim on some bits that are boring, imitation leather gear gaitors, leccy windows & thats about it really! I'll get a few pics up when its done...

Havnt checked back on this in ages, that sri interior really is in mint condition by the looks of it, it looks really good too. May i suggest painting the dash black? I know it's a bit of a pain with having to take it out and all that but it'd transform the inside, or perhaps get it flocked? Anymore plans for the car in the short term then? or just enjoy cruising round in it for a bit?
Just a small update seen as i havent updated my project thread in ages! Painted the petrol cap & mesh black looks aloot better now. Actually did this agess ago but never got round to putting pictures up! photobuckets not working so ill add them laters..

Car looks good, not keen on the smoothed in skirts or the rear bumper mind. What splitter is that on the front bumper? Probably says in here but have just flicked through!! That new engine will give it some poke, be a change form 1.2 power, lol! Gauges, you could have modded the heater vents and mounted them there. Keep up with the progress.
Nice & low

Mines lower than that without a splitter... ;)

Haha yeah its only down 60mm. Im getting coilies soon though so should be slammed then :) just worried that my skirts will catch on everything.
Finally picked my standard smooth rear bumper up yesterday. Will look so much better when thats on :thumb:

Yeah didnt end up putting the guages in anyway. Its an astra mk4 splitter mate.
Got my smooth rear bumper on today, also changed the exhaust as my old one doesnt fit. Its got a straight through cherrybomb on now. I think the bumper looks good from the back from looks tiny from the side, any ideas how to make it look abit better?
Im definately not getting rid of the skirts!!

A set of mudflaps might help it mate?
You're right, not sure what bumper this is, but it is what you need to balance it out. I'll try to find a rear shot:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2146/1889299376_8bf75a767c_o.jpg
MC- thats jims car think he had a novadose rear bumper? But dont really want to go down that route again because no matter how hard you try fibreglass bumpers just dont fit as well as standard.
I was thinking of maybe removing the splitter on my front bumper and getting a plastic spllitter for the rear?

Not true Bola, the Novadose rear fixings work fine. I never had an issue with my bumper not fitting well. I wouldn't remove the front splitter as then the car will look high at the front and rear and low at the sides. Which will look just as odd.
This is why I went for the Novadose rear bumper, it sits 4" lower than the standard rear bumper and personally I thought it worked well with the overall balance of the car.
It's your car at the end of the day and it's up to you how you style it. However, if you do fancy a novadose rear, I still have mine available and will give it to you for a very good price :thumb:
Jim
P.S. Car has come along nicely.
as said, my novadose rear bumper also fitted perfectly
probably due to the fact the novadose bumper was created when bodykits were designed to fit not just make the company profit
i agree , mine fitted quite well too , you could proberbly also try some kind of rear defuser
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t220/adamz123_photo/gaznova2.jpg
something like this maybe????
Im tempted Jim but then my car would be a replica of yours! lol

Was thinking of adding something like the splitter on stoo's golf but to my rear bumper.

This is looking mint now mate ! really sorted little car, liking the smoothed rear bumper too, is the 1.6 in now?
Ta dw the 1.6 will be in soon, i just need to find a run around whilst i do the convertion.
Ah, but Bola, my car no longer exists with that bodykit, so it would actually be the only one styled like that. Plus it's red and has your own touches. Also mines not been on the scene in that guise for ages so people have forgotten what it used to look like, lol.

Good luck with the conversion mate, have you got everything that you need? good idea getting a run around whilst you do it as you'll be able to take your time, just a little diesel or something eh.
Picked up a mongoose full stainless exhaust system with a 3.5" inwardly rolled tailpipe for the 1.6 engine on monday. Just need a exhuast manifold now and i have everything to fit it! Been painting the engine up ready to go in so should be in the car and running by christmas....hopefully!

Started on the nova today, basically everythings out of the engine bay and disconnected just got to take the driveshafts out and then the engine will come straight out. Spending another full day on it tomorrow so should hopefully have the new tank in and the old engine out! Then the novas going to the bodyshop to have the bodywork made perfect again and all of the engine bay resprayed. Cant wait to drop the new lump in!
