I'd never take it off tbh.

Fair enough on a track car/engine running on perfectly smooth tarmac, but not on a road car driving for road grit etc.

is that all it does protect it from road grit and gettin wet and just make it last longer, but also look crap

Well, should a stone get flung up off the wheels and pulled into the cambelt, it will jam the belt against the sprocket, bye bye engine.

Take it off then....

Just dont post up on here the cambelts sheared off and wrecked your engine. Lol
It might never happen, then again it could happen within a mile of taking the cover off.

Or you could be extra and fabricate a clear acrylic cambelt cover so you can see all the smart kit inside but protect it at the same time.

Now that I'd like to see

Nice idea, but it would get filthy within a week!

Id go with lltn's first idea, just chop the top off the cover so you can see the vernier, but have the bottom half covered.

Bear in mind you still risking it for a biscuit, but it would have to be an extra special ston flick to get it in.
