well iv had a set of 2L16v brakes,
std disks, std pads
got them from a scrapper, good condition pads and disks
iv had them on 1 week, and iv allready cooked them, pads are on metal, and disks have a nice cooking glase to them! lol
question is, can i go any bigger with 14" alloys,
or would some uprated disks and 4 pots help!
i dont see the problem, LET's use them fine
dont sound very stright if youve cooked them after a week u sure there not twisted ???
You cannot wear a set of pads down in one week, unless you did about 20k miles or spent the whole week going round donnington,Lol.
Sounds like the calipers are sticking on or something.
And no you cant go any bigger with 14" wheels.

but surley he would have smelt the pads beeing burnt away
I think the smell of burning oil(diesel) would overcome the smell of burning brakes lol

I also had 256mm 2.0 brakes and had the same bother with them not lasting long (not quite so extreme pad wear though...)
I sourced a set of drilled/grooved discs and greenstuff pads. Sorted the braking a treat.
Never faded or cooked them once

Never heared of anyone getting through a set of pads that quick without there being something wrong with the calipers. I've managed 30,000 miles on one set of 7.99 pads, 10k when fitted to my old saloon, 20k fitted to the astra I sold last month, they still had plenty left in them and when I do use my brakes I use them hard.
I would suggest something, but baxter is a pikey mofo and wont pay for good pads, nor do a proper job :p
