better acceleration and speed really, i have a 1.2 engine and my mate has a 1.3 engine, which is best to go for, 1.2 head or 1.3?

both heads are the same for the 1.2 and 1.3, but to fit the 1.4 carb you'd need the 1.3 inlet

Agreed, I've got a 1400SR and put a 1300 head and inlet on it at the weekend, standard carb though, and it feels like it pulls a bit more, really do need to get rid of pieburg for the weber in my garage, but ran out of time to set it up! :( Go for the 1300 head and inlet mate ;)

Get the 1.3 head, the 1.2 one has a higher CR. And might push cr too high.
1.3 is tried and tested.

if i put the 1.3 head on, will i still use a 1.4 head gasket?

you'll need the 1.2/1.3 head gasket set, if you buy the 1.4 head gasket set you'll have the wrong inlet manifold gasket

will the piston not catch the head gasket if i put a 1.2 head gasket on?

the 1.2 pistons are 4mm larger than the 1.3 so nope you dont have to worry about the gasket getting pinched

Always use the headgasket to the block you have.
Dont use a 1.3 headgasket on a 1.4 block. Sod the inlet gasket, there only two quid buy on their own.

Why not a 1.3 HG on a 1.4 block, i did :s:s:s

i used a 1.2 head gasket a couple of times, according to the leaflet i got in the headgasket, the gaskets are exactly the same, it just tells you the bores are different, well gives the specifications of the engines it'll fit
