xe wont rev over 4k???

my xe corsa for some odd reason,

will not rev over 4k now and again. now its usually ok till about 4th gear and it wont rev over 4 it just goes boggy and ****e, same with 5th.

something similar happened before and it was the earth on the fuel rail, but when that done that the engine management light also flashed and that was in every gear,checked that and that is fine though

any ideas what it could be?

sounds like it could be going into safe mode

when the ecu detects a problem it limits the amount of revs you have to reduce the risk of damaging the engine. it will more than likely be a dud sensor

sounds like cam or crank sensor, i know its a big problem on the early x18xe, is it limited to 4000rpm if u jus rev it up in neutral at a standstill?

nah it revs ok at standstill, just when im moving
