What revs will they take with ARP bolts?

That's good then, I can't see me revving that high lol maybe 8k.

Thanks Burgo :)

Depends on how long you plan on sitting at high revs.
Towards 8k rpm i'd be more concerned about the hydraulic tappets, pumping up and holding a valve open or something.

Well, it's going to be going in a car which is only used for track, so will rev high quite a lot.

I was considering solid lifters, but I'm unsure on the cam profile at the moment, so I can't decide.

I'm also split between carbs and throttle bodies, carbs are winning at the moment, for the cheapness, so the rev limit won't be anywhere near 8.5k if I do go down that route.

Carbs best on a 8v.
Ive seen 8k on my t40d 8v with std rods/bolts, briefly, lol.
Id go solids for an engine that will be sitting at high revs.

The only thing which puts me off solids is the extra strain they'll put on the other bits :(

A friend of mine was using hydraulic lifters in his X16Xe, that revved to 9000rpm with no trouble, never had issues with valves sticking open from sticky lifters.

Do solids need constant adjustment?

And what sort of cam can I safely use with hydraulics?

Around 300ish deg works with hydraulics.
When you get more towards 310 you need solids.

They dont really need constant adjustment, can weld the hydraulic tappets solid, and then just shim them. They will be noisier tho, but thats not really concerning for a track car.

solids dont put any more extra strain than hydraulic, they are just maintaining a clearance.

i've had a pulsar gti-r and let me tell you changing shims on that thing is a nightmare. luckily for you there are only 8 lifters and the shims are larger than specs of dust

you might want to get the Rods deseamed & have them weight matched.

One of mine was 8grams different according to my engine builder...

was it expensive getting the work carried out? did you pull the block and internals yourself?

Craig, I'm planning on doing that sort of thing, if I can find an engineering place near me who can do it all.

I live in a pretty crap town by comparison & we have atleast 3 decent engine builders/machine shops here.

I've literally this week taken payment on my Rods, crank & ARP's etc.
