please help me guys, first nova, its a 1988 1.2 merit with 1.4sr engine, it has 32/34 weber carb and is running like a bag of ****, whoever put the engine in hasnt connected the choke and one fuel line has a bolt in the end and is not going anywhere. im sure this line is supposed to connect to the back of the carb (there is a cut off line with a screw stuck in it). just wanted to make sure, any ideas welcome!!!!

The line with a bolt in will be the fuel return line, its ok to do that.

The carb might need setting up, idle mix/speed etc. And maybe re-jetting.

oh right, any idea what the pipe with the screw stuck in it is? its at the back slightly to the right of the carb.

that might be the auto choke tho, is it a clear pipe or black

un do the screw see if fuel comes out or air is sucked in with the engine running

its sucking in air, not alot but i could feel it sucking the end of my finger. wheres that supposed to go then mate?

its the auto choke then, its soposed to go on a little tube under the standard air filter casing, i used to have to undo the screw and let it warm up then put the scew back in because i used to have a K&N filter.

try running with it out, but this will make the car runner a bit higher in the revs and use more fuel IIRC

its got a k&n on it, ill give it a try, could i just put a breather filter on it then? could this cause it to struggle a bit when driving in low revs aswell?

not really, mine used to tug along on its own befor i put a screw in the pipe, responded much better with it blocked off

sounds like it's just an extra vacumn take-off thats been blocked off, mine has one at the back like that too.
