im starting a new job soon delivering across south wales, i have about ?700 to spend on a diesle.
what does everyone recomend?
need good mpg, and good reliability also. :confused:

also bear in mind that some petrol cars are nearly as econmoical as a diesel (and with diesel costing mroe to buy it makes the petrol cheaper to run)

an example...
My vx220 does about 40 to the gallon on my commute, uses 2 tanks of fuel in 5 days that are about 20-23 litres each.
A hired 307 CC HDI i had to get while the vx was off the road, used a 50 litre tank for the 5 days, didnt drive it tooooo hard.
so 46litres of UL @ about 86p/litre VS 50 litres @ 90p/litre lol.

its worth thinking about, if you can find a light big engined car.

My mates 1.2 8v corsa is better on fuel than my cavalier td.

i was thinking of a vw polo 1 ltr it did almost 500 miles to ?30 once. (motorway driving)
but ive never owned a diesle.
i was thinking of a corsa td, also the 205 and clio, ive heard the french make good diesles.
ive also got to take in to consideration insurance :(

stay away from the 205TD... they are uber unreliable lol
