Do you want engine specs or car? making it handle and stop well is far more important than engine work imo.

btw craig - funny looking 1.6 8v in the silver gsi lol

and why remove front ARB???

Because it works best with std suspension.

It feels strange with uprated suspension and a front arb fitted.
Up to you tho really...

Here's Dan's for you:

1.6 8v gte engine
engine...142bhp/133lbft (allegedly as r/r generally talk ****e)
1650 Rebore/hone block, Pistons, Ground crank, Full dynamic engine balance, Lightened flywheel, Faced flywheel, Skimmed block face for upped compression, Blydenstien b+ head, heat wrapped 4-1 manifold, Helix paddle clutch and cover, kent ast2 cam, twin forties, ashley exhaust system, 1.4 sr dizzy/coil, gripper plate diff, f13cr with 4.18 f/d. santa pod time as per sig

Thats the basics, i have also setup the susp geometry to my own settings that can help or hinder a cars performance but thats a personal preference issue. Another thing to remember is power to weight rather than just engine power, even tho my car looks stripped its not as light as is possible, but built well for track and alot safer. it comes in at around 200bhp/ton as the car weighs 'about' 720kg.

Jim's is higher spec again i believe, using solid lifters and a Kent AST3 cam.

My spec is simular to Dan's just without the overbore:

1600 block, new shells, rings, ARP bolts, Deseamed rods, polished pistons, ground crank, lightened and balanced flywheel, Blydenstien B+ pack head, AST2 cam and Weber DCOE's with 34mm chokes, standard compression (or though i may use 16v pistons), Ashley exhaust (not heat wrapped) standard clutch, F13CR (maybe with 4.18FD - havent decided yet) and a LSD if i ever have the money

CG had a 1.6 8v turbo as well - remember reading 168bhp, not sure tho.

Rally boys use the whole 16v bottom end with the 8v top, i've even seen 45's used. Google 'Bower's engines' as well
