Ok i went to go and finally see the Nova today that i will be getting on the 31st of this month. (Also went for a spin)
It's a Vauxhall Nova 1.2 Merit (J) Reg in a burgendy(<can't spell) colour which has ONLY done 44thousand miles since new in 1992.
Their is 3 prev owners and has every M.O.T since 1995. (because they don't M.O.T for 3 years when new obviously)
I checked the arches and their only seems to be rust on one arch and to be honest their is virtually no rust at all on the car. (couldn't see any)
The owner didn't know i was coming to see it today so it isn't very clean on the pictures at all. (Please see past this)
Anyway here is some pics i managed to get of the Nova.

P.S Their isn't any pictures of the right hand side because the big flipping bush was in the way!

3) Buy a SUB and AMP.
4) Mite de badge it and colour code everything.
5) Get them horrid alloys sorted.

Thats a fat lot of help! Sort the engine bay out and then do rest of car, it'll of rotted away by then!!!!

Anyway back to point :- Good old clean in and out, check for rust ALL over, make sure it runs sweet as a nut, then spend some money on it, de-badge, de-strip, lower and alloys (if you want)
But looks like a good first car, at least it's not gonna be ANOTHER C20XE project!!! ;)

Yeah it's a great runner.(went for a spin) The guy that owns it now has had it for 18 month or so and said it only failed one thing on last M.O.T and that was that it needed a new bulb lol... An old lady had it before him for years and thats why the original interior is smart and not been ruined...

NovaLad
20-03-07, 08:16 PM
Lmao i just asked VAUGHANMC the same thing on MSN lol and i'm a lad ahah... He told me to use my mums hair dryer then they will start to loosen off till they are easy enough to pull off... Then use some white spirits to get any extra double sided tape off and clean the car. Finally polish it up...

vaughanmc
20-03-07, 08:16 PM
how i done it was:

Used a hair-dryer to heat up the double-sided tape on the back of the badge, then pulled the badge bit-by-bit 'til it came off

Then used white spirits to remove the stickyness ;) lol

Then once all the sticky stuff is away give it a good old wash and polish to remove what was left on the tailgate

Not sure if this is the correct way but it worked for me

Vaughan!!

coochiSR
20-03-07, 08:16 PM

white spirit is fine.

vaughanmc
20-03-07, 08:18 PM
yeah we call it 'Turps' up this end but it worked for me and washed the car straight after the use of it...was told it was dangerous stuff lol

Vaughan

coochiSR
20-03-07, 08:19 PM
yeah i took mine off, just got a toffee wheel on all the left over glue, better than white spirits, wouldn't go anywhere near my car!

NovaLad
20-03-07, 08:20 PM
Yeah the tech term is turps here to lol!!! ;)

vaughanmc
20-03-07, 08:21 PM
need to use some more of it on my nova to take the stickyness of where the 'Ultra Cool' Spin decals once were...

Vaughan

coochiSR
20-03-07, 08:23 PM
Braver man than me!!! I took the grey decal and all badges off mine and a "toffee" wheel works really really well, just polish it up after and looks spot on! ;)

NovaLad
20-03-07, 08:30 PM
Yeah i want to take off all badges because ive seen cars without and they look good ... But the other side of me wants to keep them on and keep it original lol... I'm in a dylema!

20-03-07, 10:31 PM
Clean it with some Megs, that'll bring it up nice.

Who is nick williams? What is his username??
Nick as in username "Nick"? Yes, same colour.

really stupid question but how do you get the badges off?just pull them off?:( (im a girl doing up my own car by myself)
Hot air gun or hairdrier; plastic scraper; little bit of meths or white spirit and some tar/bug remover stuff to get the residue off; and plenty of eblow grease lol

Take it off slowly, and give it a damned good wash after wards to get rid of any excess fluids. Then get some Megs on it to bring the colour back.

21-03-07, 11:22 AM
If youve not got under it to check for rust, That would be the FIRST thing to do before even washing it..

Sod making it look pretty if its going to fall appart in a few weeks. You wouldnt build a house on sand, so dont build a car on rust lol

NovaLad
21-03-07, 02:50 PM
HAha true but there has not been any signs of rust on any of the M.O.T's etc... but i iwll check anyway.

Stuart
21-03-07, 02:59 PM
an MOT is far from comprehensive.....

infact go to the right MOT stations and they will test it without it moving lol
