just been to my local scrappy, had a look at a few daewoos, one of the espero's had a c18le motor, in it, is this a low comp motor, if so can it be turbo'd? also the drivers side mount was the same as the astra 2 mount but cast from steel/iron not alloy, also the inner c.v's on the nexia 1.5 glxi's look like cay 1.6 ones! pulled one out and it has big splines in the box but the shaft is quite thin, anyone else know about this?

is this is true then i might go looking for a smaller 1400 to turbo! :D:D

mate the c18le is a family 2 engine ie big block. apparently the yanks are turboing them very well! one guy has 270bhp with std internals. plus its an 8valve

There is a 1500 derived from the 1400/1600 type GM unit but has a twin cam head & variable length inlet runners. Again ripe for turboing.

Try; www.daewootech.com (http://www.daewootech.com) or similar

yeah but the comp ratio is 10.5 to 1

yeah but the comp ratio is 10.5 to 1

and thats bad because?

ok an example- a c20 let has an l in the engine code to show the comp ratio is 8.5 to 9 to 1. the daewoo is a c15xel the x means that it is 10.5 to 11.5 to 1. so if you are turboing an engine a low comp ratio is better, because you can run higher boost. that said dbilas are gettin 160bhp from their z12xe conversion because it runs variable boost, ie 0.1 bar at 1000rpm, 0.2 bar at 2000rpm, upto 0.8 bar at 7000rpm, if you want to turbo it get a spacer plate made or low comp pistons. it will be good when done tho.

just a thougt, if you use a low pressure turbo, i.e subaru forester, ( think this is a t2??) and a fifth injector, the low pressure from the turbo should be ok. BUT its a case of suck it and see! :)

oh, i didnt realize this was in context to turbocharging :thumb:

though with todays tuning abilities you could run .4-5bar on that

on 10.5 to 1, at 4-5 bar?? ten minuites tops, then big bang. the good thing is ill prob end up doing this as i work in a scrapyard!
