View Full Version : nova gsi/gte ports
Does a nova gsi have square or circle inlet ports?
Also how can you tell the engines apart? does the GTE only have OHC on the rocker cover

The engines are identical. (both will have 'fuel injection' and ohc)
the only differnce is very late gsis which have the c16se engine, which is identifilale by its lack of airflow meter on the induction pipe, will have nothing where the 'fuel injection' usual is, and will also have c16se stamped on the block instead of e16se
and they have circle ports ;)
aren't the cambelt covers different on a e16se and a c16se, i.e round top on the e16se and flat top on the c16se, correct me if i am wrong lol

they are circle shape ports, same as all mpi 8v vauxhalls. None of the mpi engines came with flat top cam covers, thats if what i think you mean it is.
nah i meant the cambelt covers, weren't the e16se tensioned using the water pump and the c16se using the automatic tensioner, i thought that all engines with an automatic tensioner had flat top cambelt covers, if you see what i mean?
well you learn something new every day
e16se with rounded top

and c16se with flat top

and this would be the automatic tensioner for the c16se

and i have an e16se so know you use the water pump to tension them!
so a gold star for maccas i think
Some e16se's had flat top cambelt covers too :p

also 1 is dizzy 1 is diz pack also the early engine had a coasting air control valve and no map sensor
also fuel presure regulators are different the early engine uses one like the xe lumps
most of the early engines had metal rocker covers the later ones had plastic
ones
later engines had a metal cased ecu that goes inside the car
later engines have a black idol control valve that sits on the throttle boddie
there is an adjustment screw for emisions on the airflow meter on the early engines
iirc later engines have a lower rev limit
later engines have a square type inlet manifold
what your basically saying is they have different engine management systems

yeah but the early engines also had variants on what managment they used aswell but only slight
Yeah, siemens and bosch iirc.
C16se had Multec management.
