best on market cheap or dear full system 4 branch mid and 4 inch back box outer rolled for a 1.6 8v nova cam'ed filter etc so i can see and hear a bit more

Janspeed system/ashley etc..

i have a full janspeed system 4branch to tailpipe on my 1.2 carb and it went up fron55bhp? stanerd to 59bhp(proven) so cant be do bad..

ashley F/S is about ?150, manifild is about ?100, but they are only Mild steel so wont last forever. Magnex etc are stainless and life time guaranteed, 2nd hand go for about ?100-130, but i picked mine up on ebay for ?20!!

Ashley are very raspy, its an aquired taste, and can get annoying after a while.
I have an ashley on my XE and its too loud, so il be swapping for the magnex.

You can no longer buy Magnex systems new though can you? The only stainless system I've seen FS new is Mongoose.

ive found magnes to be ****e tbh, mine didnt even fit properly! So i opted for an Ashley System, ?127 delivered, never had NO problems with it overall incredibly pleased. Which is much more then i can say about the Magnex stuff :mad:

The eurorallye style back boxes should quieten it down slightly Lew, the box is massive.
Altho the majority of noise on a t40d engine comes from the carbs, i can't even hear my ashley full system anymore lol

I don't like the sound of the Ashley system (from video) seems very raspy and too loud for me, I've recently purchased a magnex middle and back box that sound spot on, IMO, and werent that bad to fit. Just seem how loud it gets when i fit my manifold again!

my speakers dont work so carnt listen to the vid lol

but yeh the noise is from the carbs aswell ad but i need to quietn sumin down lol, can here it from the rear. it does my head in! might try a standard box modded with a 2" pipe

so i take it Ashley system are about the best but not going to last for ever! also dose any one know if the full system is 1.5/8 inch bore of 2 inch bore from the 4 branch to back box as av been told a 2 inch pipe with mid box will give me best out put

remeber thats an XE, so the airs being forced alot quicker and more forcefully than the SRi that the exhaust was intended for. However my SRi was still quite raspy, but no where near as bad as that.

Its a few years old so could well be knackered too - expecially as its been on 2 XEs, the baffles could be well blown thru! lol

In all honesty it is quite likely its ****ed! Its quite strange as on idle, or steady throttle under 3k its not that loud, but the moment it hits the xe 3-3.5k 'power band', or you floor it, it just roars.

your not going to get much in the wya of "improvement" in power/torque from just an exhaust. Its a complementry mod..

basically buy one thats in yoru budget and that you like.

i used to have an OMP system which was pretty good, not sure if they're still available but might be worth a look
