I have seen rich dale had fitted a weber carb to his 1.3 antibes, and a few others of you have fitted webers also, while at the breakers I found thaaasands of fords with webers, many being twin chokes, but they do not line up with vauxhall inlet manifolds, can anyone tell me if I can get a twin inlet manifold to fit a weber to?-and also if any cars that I may find at the breakers that would be fitted with my ideal carb?-I want to squeeze some performance out of my nova now,and I think carbs, cams n manifolds may be me best bet...

I want some 15"s!

Rob, you need an inlet manifold from a 1.3 Nova, either an SR or any 1.3 model will do, as long as it's fitted with the Pierburg 2E3.
The Weber carb uses this manifold, but employs the use of an adaptor plate, which bolts on to the Nova manifold.
You would need this to fit a Weber carb, namely the 32/34 DMTL like mine.

I was lucky 'cos my Weber came off of a Nova SR, so I got the manifold etc included...all for ?15!

There's a few other cars that use the 32/34 DMTL as standard fitment, such as the MG Metro and Fiesta MKII XR2, but the linkages might be different for choke, throttle etc...might not be a problem though.
The MG Metro is a 1.3, so the jet sizes etc would probably be ok for the Nova 1.2/1.3, but the Fiesta one is obviously set up for a 1.6, so might not be suitable without changing 'em.

The carbs also fitted on the Petrol Land Rover btw....lol! That's a 2.2 litre.....might be a bit juicy for the Nova!

P.S....I've got your e-mails mate....all 4 of them! I'll respond properly tomorrow mate once I've had a good read.
Cheers for the tech spec too, and nice pics! I'll get your car in features on novabug asap ;)

I got some better pics now,and am working on getting some more done soon mate.
Where do you think I can get an adapter plate from?-I found a fiesta 1.4 ghia with a twin choke weber.
DO some SRs come with a weber then Rich?-or do you buy the weber to go on them?-I know the sport came with some chunky webers...
I may risk a weber from the breakers, and I will go find a nova with a 2e3 inlet and see how they compare?

dont fink any novas cum wiv webers, think they were all pants pierburgs 1b/2b. u need i got on off a xr2 then u need the linkage kit cause on the xr2'sthe throttle cables on the near side and the novas cable is on the opp side, but the linkage kt will sort ou this prob, and then ull need a adapter plate kit which will make the carb fit on to ur nova inlet manifold. Because my carb was off a xr2 it was jetted for a 1.6 so u mite av to get it re-jetted.

how much ar adaptor plates?-I can get the carb itself well easy!-I think a fiesta 1.4ghias weber has the linkage on the same side as the pierburg?-oh!,and the 1litres did come with webers as far as I know....just single point ones-anyone know where the adaptor kits etc come from?

Only the 1.0 Nova had a Weber as standard, and I think what Rob meant my single point, was single choke...am I right Rob?

My Weber came off of an SR, but only 'cos the previous owner had converted it....I was VERY lucky (My mate Andy is a top lad ;)).

Try phoning a Carburettor specialist about the adaptor plate......I'd be surprised if it's as much as ?60 though :O It might be....I don't honestly know since I got mine included with the carb and inlet manifold.
It's only a flat plate of aluminium with two holes for the flow of fuel/air. It's then got four bolts that stick up that the carb bolts to, and that's all it is.....you could quite easily make your own.

Check what the carb model is though....the ones on the 1.4 Fiesta Ghia might not be the 32/34 DMTL.

If you get one from a scrappy, don't worry too much if it's a bit duff.....mine turned out to be knackered, but it was only the diaphragms in the end, and a ?28 re-con kit sorted it. So, in all, it cost me ?43 for a re-con Weber, manifold and adaptor...bargain!

hmmmm,my tool kit is quite a big bag of screw drivers and bars!-I have smuggled sooooo much out in that!-perhaps I could help myself to both carbs?-I got an ECU for my bros volvo a couple of days ago, sweet eh?-I will get these carbs, theres alot of dirt on them,so its hard to read em,so I think I will nab both, and maybe consider paying for the inlet manifold!-all I need is a contact for an adaptor plate,if it is really that small,I think I could machine one,but I do not know how much work would be involved!-does the adaptor kit come with the throttle linkage?-and what happens if I come across a bigger weber at the breakers???
