The linkage is internal rather than running under the car.
If your competing and you bottom out it can rip it out of gear, seems to be easier shifting with the astra linkage although not sure if the shaft going to the gearbox is the same length for a nova and you will have to cut a hole in the tunnel. hope it helps
it would need to be shortened aswel.
IIRC you shorten it by 3" and then straighten it up as well. Whilst your at it you could make a rose-jointed linkage to further tighten up the feel.

or buy 1 of you mate lol.
They are easy enough to make. Mind you I have only tested it with a box hung in the car not attached to an engine.
ok were did you get that picture?do you know how much that cost to build?thanks
He built his him self. but you could always ask him nicely if he could sort 1 out for ya.
Dar could you give me a price on how much it would cost to build one for an f13 gear box thanks
Err, let me check that this one works fine. Im sure it will. Then I would need your old linkage because I don't have any spare. I think the rose-joints are ?10 or so each. So Probably about ?70. But it is simple to do. So why not have a go yourself.

I've only replaced one joint so far, they cost about a fiver each, plus the nuts and bolts and spacers.
so what you have done to your gear linkage has that tited up the gear changes?
Not sure about tited them up. But the standard Nova linkage is shocking. So with rose-joints it does tighten it up . Its a kind of r half way house to a direct linkage. i.e. much better than standard but not as good as the direct linkage.
You can tighten it up even more by using a UJ on the connection between the box and the linkage. But thats a whole other story.
ok thanks for all your help:thumb:

'tis quite easy Dar, I only replace that one due to the rubber block being rotted away. It has improved the side-to-side movement a lot, front to back is only slightly better, to sort that out I need some brass or bronze bushes to replace the stupid plastic ones on the main pivot pin.
