How difficult is it to remove a gearbox off of a 2.0l 8v cavalier engine. I have the engine out of the car again and I have pretty much decided to buy a reconditioned bottom 3/4 unit so I need to separate the box and the head to fit the new bottom end.
I have never messed around with gearboxes before so I want to know if its easy or if its a bit tricky. and if there's any tips for things to watch out for when taking the box off and putting it back on ?

it should just be a case of undoing the 6-7 bolts holding it 2gether then giving it a tap to seperate. Nothing major. Mind you iv never worked on big block engines but i cant see it being much different!

Nothing to it! like dicko said, just 6-7 bolts. If the engine is already out of the car, its even easier. Nothing worse than trying to locate the main shaft thingy, whist holding up the gearbox above your head.
