alternator has gone on my xe, i want to change it with taking the engine out does anyone know if its possiable and how to go about doing it? as really dont want to take engine out to much hassel,

Yes its possible. Even if you have to take the inlet manifold off you won't have to take the whole engine out.

The best way to do it is to drop it thru the bottom, bit of a tight squeeze but is possible, you might need to remove the driveshaft to be able to get it out tho. Thats the way i'va always done it, loads easier than removing the inlet manifold.

iv managed to squeeze one throught the top before, disconnect all wiring from bottom tho.

i changed mine and squeezed it out the bottom very tight getting it past the drive shaft but is possible

ive done onr fromunderneath aswell, managed to get it past the driveshaft without taking it out but be preppred for lots of swearing/crying/scraped hands lol

its possible without taking anything else off he engine, ive done it many a time but you will lose skin off your hands lol
