ive bought a bottom end out of a corsa 1.4 mpi 8v think its a 1996 car!

i noticed it had a cam belt tensioner on it above the crank pully and below the water pump.

do i need this?

as i now i can tension the belt by the water pump

you can tension the belt using the water pump or tensioner, if you want the auto tensioner you'd have to get a 1.4 cambelt for a mark2, if you dont use the tensioner you'd have to get a mark1 cambelt

lol i got one too, after i got the shorter belt after snapping my auto tensioner i realised the oil pump had a hole in it, so bought another oil pump today and got my autotensioner back lol

yes it does, the bolt hole for the autotensioner is on the top of the oil pump ;)

The tensioner bolts to the oil pump.
Thats all.

You can just unbolt it and leave it off and fit a shorter belt.

the tensioner doesnt run the oil pump its just screwed to it, the oil pump runs off the crankshaft
