Right lads and ladies, I need your help once again....basically, has anyone got any useful tips on fitting my JP zorst from my 1.3 Antibes to my new GTE???
I knew from past knowledge that it wouldn't fit as the down-pipe and manifold are different, but totally forgot that very important piece of information, and ended up wasting 5 hours this afternoon with my Dad, trying to swap the JP from the Antibes to the GTE, and the GTE zorst to the Antibes! It was only when I came to bolt up the front sprung clamp that my memory came back...doh! :O
In the process, we had to cut off the standard GTE back box, cost it just wouldn't shift, so now 'cos the JP didn't fit the GTE, I'm left with the standard GTE centre section and without a back box!
It's a bugger, 'cos I can't use it now till I get sorted with a new Back box or what ever I end up doing!
I was even considering repairing my old Peco BB2 back box and put that on with the GTE standard centre section :O Noooooooo :O
The JP's back on the Antibes for now, but I really want to keep it for the GTE, so need a way to fit it.
This is what I'd thought about doing.........basically, the only difference in the zorst is the angle of the front part of the centre section, where it angles to meet up with the sprung joint on the down-pipes. I've thought about cutting off the end of the standard GTE centre section, as well as cutting of the end of the JP, and fastening the two together.....I recon this will be easy 'cos the JP is large enough for the standard GTE zorst to slide inside, and it's quite a tight fit. All I'd need to do then would be to add another clamp to hold the joint securely.
But, I know that you can buy sections of exhaust to combine together to make your own custom system....like the jetex parts as seen in the demontweeks catalogue, but are they expensive?? Would they be any better than my idea above??
I don't want to go and chop the end of my JP off and risk bodging it though...not good....so don't know whether to risk trying it or not. I could of course contact JP to mod it for me, but that would be loads of money I recon :( (of which I have very little at the mo!), plus don't they have a 2 to 3 months waiting list or something?
The other option is to forget about the JP ( :( ) and advertise for a second-hand Magnex or similar.....I really want a stainless 'cos I'm planning on keeping the GTE for the next couple of years at least, and making it a long term project.....Valver in the future :)
