I priced them for a 14NZ block once and it came to around the ?200 mark if i remember correctly.

Well not sure about the 1400 but when i just rebuilt mine the rings came to about ?120-?130 ish and the shells were ?65 and then ?60 for a crank regrind an balance. An thats all on trade. Building engines isnt cheap at all.

for my redtop i paid 54 for the rings that was with him cleaning and fitting them, big end shells were 10, if i wanted a regrind and balanceit would be 66 60 ish that was including all shells/bearings

For my E16SE:
Piston rings - ?60 from Local Motor Factors
Main bearing shells (Heavy-duty) - ?41.75
Big end bearings (Heavy-duty) - ?26.83
Crank grind (big end only) ?45

Hmm, probably better decision just to find a good condition block in the first place.
Meh, i'll stick with 1400cc for a bit then.

for my E16SE the piston rings were 50 quid and the big end bearings were just short of 20.
