View Full Version : Cavvy Alloys
i have a set of cavvy gsi alloys and would like to know which tyre size would be best for them and my car. i dont really want to roll the arches on the back, and dont want them coming in to contact with the body. the car is lowered 60mm all round on shocks and springs.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
cheers

ive got 195/45/15s on mycav alloys on the back of mine and they catch with weight in thats lowered 60mm
ive got 195/50/15s on the front and they are ripping the wings to bits not reccomended without arch worklol
how about 185/45/15, surely they wouldnt rub on the arches.
i just dont want to destroy my perfect arches, wanted to leave the body as stock as possible.

standard rolling diameter
145 70 13 = 21 inches
165 50 15 = 21.5 inches
175 45 15 = 21.2 inches
185 45 15 = 21.6 inches
195 45 15 = 21.9 inches
even with the 195 45's you are just under a half inch farther up
i would go for the 185's (mytyres.co.uk have nankangs in that size for 31.80 a tyre..)
it appears when they were made nova's had an awful tolerance on the rear beam, i've run 185/55/15's (which were more like 190) no problems at all when i drove around on some kumho intermediates, for general road use i use 195/45/15 eagle f1's which double up as my wet tyres on track. When on track i use slick/intermediate tyres which are a touch wider with no problems. my car is fairly low but my rear beam is very central with equal room either side of the car under the arches which does help, whats yours like?
pic of it on the kumho inters, its been up on 2 wheels with these tyres on track when bouncing around the kerbs and spent some fun dragging it sideways at other events so if they were to rub i have pushed it to the limit to try and find it with no joy lol

i have some 195/45/15s on my mo's and my novas lowerd about 70mm at the back and have no trouble had some 195/55/15s on my astra rims and it rubbed like funk on the front, lowerd 80mm
i have no idea how low mine is tbh, but its low enough that i have 'buffed' the paint down to the primer on the lip of the front arches which is prob done when hitting the kerbs on track and when it lands back down with a thump at speed, but nothing as extreme as that would be done with road use imo.
i think its classed as more luck than judgement as i set the car up myself lol lol lol
