why on earth would you want to remove the oil cap with engine running?

As oil will spray up at you lmfao!!

it only sprays when the piston rings are worn out, but then again, is that normal?

i know e16se engines dont spray out as they have a guard under the cap, anywho as for your question see if the breather pipe from the back of the block to the head is blocked as these cause weird problems

the one that connects to the air intake pipe? or the one that connects to the efi buttlefly gas pedal box?

depending on what engine oil can spray out as the cams have holes for the oil to get round

Normally if you undo the oil cap while the engine is running and the engine stalls or lowers to a lower rev it means the rings are worn and releaseing compresion into the sump causeing back preasure in the breather system, ive seen it a couple of times.
