The biggest problem with Solex carbs is support for them. Some are pretty much copies of the Webber units so use the same parts, if yours aren't then good luck finding someone who can help.

IIRC Ben is in the process of finding out about support at the moment, try dropping him a PM.

There copies of weber dcoes, think there called Solex cc40(equivalent to dcoe 40)
You can pick up a set on ebay for about ?30-?50, whereas webers are ?150-?200.

Hard to get parts for them tho, no where stocks them.

Avoid imo.

Mate, Solex are fine carbs if theyr'e set up for your engine, Southern Carberuttors in Wimbledon (i think) used to stock the bits for them.
I've got a mate near to you that can set them for you, if you get some and the bits.

Good luck

Spoke to few suppliers who sale on egay and they can supply everything needed for solex. No difference in price for parts between weber/solex etc just the initial outlay etc is cheaper.

Not sure on the useability on setup etc as wont get that far for about 5 years on recent performance.
