i have a f20 and want to fit it to my nova bnut it has a tranfer box on it if i remove it do i have to get a cog in it or just get a plate and bolt it over the hole
Just find any FWD F16>F18>F20 and take the plate off and bolt over your hole.
I might have one in the stores somewhere lol

also will this be ok for a redtop nova conversion??
A f20 has no transfer box, they were all FWD?

they did a 4x4

Cav GSi and Calibra 4x4's used F20's
Ahh right.
If you've got to go hunting around scrappys for end plate etc, might just be easier get a fwd f20
any big block gearbox will have the plate, take off transfer box on your f20 and bolt new plate on, very easy.

Im pretty sure you need to drill an tap the rear mount fixings as well like on the F28 last i looked at one?
You dont need to drill and tap an F28 if you have the right plate to hand ;)
Bolt straight on!

so if i get an end plate off an f 16 f18 f 20 will that be ok??
Isn't it gonna be the same as converting an F28 to 2wd ? If it is then you'll need to buy a conversion kit, or get the bit from a 2wd F16 / F20 and machine it to fit.
Rich
Dont need to machine it to fit the F20 if its from a F20.
Mistake people make is try to get the F20 into the F28 when they can just get the correct design plate from vauxhall which needs no machining.
I will get some pics of the "proper GM part" to convert the F28's.
But going back to this, the F20 2wd blanking plate will bolt straight into a F20 with the TX box removed.
Be interested in seeing this Vauxhall conversion plate, what did Vaux use it for ? if its available then how come compnays (Regal ect ...) go to the hassel of getting a conversion plate made up ??
Rich
vauxhall made them for the turbo belmont they brought out in south africa i beleave. cant remember what they called it now but that had an f28 converted to 2wd

Because they never heard or came accross this method?
Maybe the part isnt cost effective for their profit margins either.
lol its not anywhere near as complex as that, there are lots of them in many scrap yards all over the country.
Regal etc just dont think about the easy way, not as much money in it.
You dont want the F28 one mate you just want a bog standard F16>F20 one.
I will get some pics of the "proper GM part" to convert the F28's.
Pics ?

companies will make and sell "conversion" stuff to make some money, maybe the plate they sell is cheaper than vauxhall? like they sell conversion spacers when its just a bit of metal lol

Looks like you do need the F28 conversion kit
Have a look on here (MIG) http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=306690
You CAN'T just fit the plate & seal off the F16 / F20, you've gotta get it machined as you would with the F28.
Rich
Bolt on GM 2wd plate as promised...
