The F20 is a five speed. I think the F28 from the 4x4 Calibra and Cav is a six speed box.

You want the F28 for 6 gears, anything up to ?750 if there's a good transfer box attatched.

The box on its own usually goes for about ?200-?300.

at the min it'll be a 1.4 16v sport and hopefully ill get to tune the nuts of it.
im buying a gearbox cause hopefully in the future ill put a bigger engine into the car!
i wanted a 6 speed but prob go for the f20 now

anyone know what kind of brake you can acheive from a 14 sport engine?

depends how much money you've got to throw at it, if you put it on throttle bodies you could see around 140bhp, but if you spend serious money you could get much more, have a look on the sbd developments website www.sbdev.co.uk (http://www.sbdev.co.uk)

Its a small block engine, so its pointless putting an f20 or an f28 on it as they are big block gearboxes.
1stly cuz it isnt a direct fit to the engine, 2ndly cuz it isnt a direct fit for the mounts and 3rdly cuz they are heavy as fcuk. If you want a bigger gearbox, wait and fit at the same time as the bigger engine!

An f13cr or (f15/16?) should be more than enough for a welltuned smallbock.

imho the F15cr is the "perfect" box for small block cars... ok its FD is a little annoying but its not the end of the world.

fitting an F28 is a total waste of time unless your running an XE on 250bhp+ (TB's and nitrous) or a LET due to the silly torque hit.

Depends on the what model of either box is used. The F13 varied among Nova GTEs etc & the F15 is available in WR & CR types.

F28 is best suited to turbo engines with fat torque IMO, maybe an XE in a Calibra could make good use of 6th what with the aero dynamics etc coming into play.
An F20 could be a trick addition but you will need the conversion shafts to get it in & finding an unabused one isnt as easy as it was. Stick with the box you have & buy a ltd slip diff is my advice.

Depends which FD you get in the box.
