go round any kirb marks and scratches with 180 dont go any lower otherwise you will be sanding the deep scratches out for ages. work your way down the grades 240-320-400-600 then 800. the wheels will then need priming if your doing it proper de-grease with panel wipe then tack off, so do a light dust coat at first then apply two more coats leave to dry then flat down with hot soapy water and 800(if you are aerosoling use scotch brite so you dont rub through) then simply paint in whatever colour you choose, if youre using metallic dont forget your lacquer

I did a guide years ago - try www.nova-land.com (http://www.nova-land.com)

if I did them again I'd get the tyres removed - save a ton of hastle with masking!

just pop the top bead off,if your goin to remove the paint with paint stripper then they need etch primer before primer.

If you want to do it ultra cheap in black then Hammerite smooth is the way forward. They do a range of colours but obviously if he wants factory look then he'll need to find a suitable colour and do it properly.

Quick sand down... no need for primer... make sure you leave them to dry for a long time.
