how much do u fink i shuld pay 4 a fairly mint 1.6gsi engine 8v take it ill need the ecu 2?

yep, u need engine, ecu, loom, dizzy, coil etc.
id say ?150-?200, all depends on just how mint it is!!

buy a GTE thats failed it's MOT on welding/Bodywork/suspension

u can pick them up for about ?200...

then sell interior, clocks, wheels etc etc to get your ?200 back, then put the engine/box in yours...

I'd do that Ged (instead of mucking about with a Cav engine), but I've got no where to store another car whilst I do the stripping down :(
See if Bob's still got his GTE for sale...he was going to strip it instead of selling it complete, but I'm not sure what his plans are for it now? Worth a go.

Other advantage of getting a full GTE, is that you can get everything with it...tank, fuel lines, loom etc, which you might not get just buying an engine from someone.
One problem though is that if the car is so knackered that it's failed to MOT, it's likely to have mega mileage, meaning worn seats, knackered engine etc etc, so the idea may not work....something to think about.
