Hi I am converting my 1600 8v engine to mapped ignition.

I've had to change the block so am using a 16sv block with a GSI round port head. I need to put in a new oil pump but according to the main dealer there is two types of oil pump but can't tell me what the difference is.
Anyone know?

Also I need to fit the crank sensor bracket, anyone know weather the 1.4 8v bracket will fit as I know where there is a scrapped one?

Yeah you can use a 1.4 8v MPI crank sensor bracket, sensor, and the bottom pully(with crank sensor teeth on)

Can't help you with the pump situation, afaik all small blocks had the same pump.
Maybe just remove the old pump and get the one that looks identical/same part number..

Yeah I would have thought they were all the same. I was looking at getting a spurious pump as they are about a 1/3 of the price of the main dealer, but the main dealer have two different types with no idea what the difference is.

i bought 1 for my gsi off ebay who said it was for a 1.6 but when i fitted it i realised that it didnt have the flat bit for the tensioner to sit on, so i converted to non-tensioner. so that could be the difference

That may be the difference then/\
Non tensioner, and tensioner.

Yep one has a locater for the cambelt tensioner, and one is for water pump tensioning.

All the C16SE oil pumps have the mounting points for the Crank Position Sensor, the earlier oil pumps, (E16SE) are missing one of the holes so you will end up having to fabricate a mounting bracket!

Other than that (as long as they have the later 6 point hex pump drive on the crank) they're pretty much all the same other than the pulley fixing points

Cheers

Ok just to confirm I am fitting a 16sv block to the c16se head which is supposed to be the same as the c16se block. So all I need to do is order a c16se oil pump and then get the bracket off the 1.4 and I'm good to go, right?

Would a sperious one be alright for competitio use as the main dealer price is is 300 quid or so.

Many thanks for the replies.

Am based here in Ireland and main dealer is looking for 460 + vat euro for c16se oil pump. Am not paying that.

Another question
If I get the c16se oil pump can I just use the water pump to tension without using the bolt on tensioner.

I can get the bolt on tensioner. But does that give trouble?
