I have 2 sets of 13cm speakers and another two sets of about 17cm. I wish to fit them somewhere in the door (2 speakers each door) but mine does not have electric windows... the shelf has already some 6*9 s and there is no room for them. what should I do? btw Its a 5 door nova..

I think you'll probably need to build some wood/fibreglass speaker pods.

There isn't much room in the front doors for speakers because of the window.
As for the rears I haven't owned a 5 door for 7ish years... can't even remember what the back door cards look like :D

Because the doors are so short, there isn't any room for anything bigger than a 10cm speaker in the door cards of the front doors. The winder handle gets in the way and you'll need to cut the door pocket at the front bottom corner of the doorcard. TBH, there isn't much point as they are so low down, the sound quality isn't great and they will stick out too much and you risk breaking them. I stuck a set of 10cm speakers in the dash (on a mk1 dash). The space issue is worse on the rear doors, unless you do away with the winder mechanism in the back and do a bit of cutting of the door frame.

My advice is to get some electric windows in the front, then you can build new custom door cards, without pockets which have provision for a 17cm or 13cm speakers, I doubt there will be room for 2 speakers in one door card.

Do you have any subs in the boot, or have plans for any? My preferred arrangement would be to fit a sub in the boot, amp the set of 17cms and fit to the parcel shelf for mid range sound and fit the 10cms in the dash for treble. That way you are using dedicated speakers for bass, mid and treble and the clarity of sound will be much better. If you do not want a sub, the 6x9s will produce fairly good bass, as long as they are amped and of good quality.

Yes danny, I have a 12" sub in the boot .. and a pair of 6*9 on the parcel shelf. It's a good idea to fit speakers in the dash, but I don't know how am I going to put them there, and there isn't something solid to put the speakers on.. Btw I don't have speakers at the back corners, Do you think that 13cm ones fits there? and will the sound be clear?

Do you have a mk 1 or mk2 dash? I have the mk 1 dash and you need to remove the glove compartment and clocks to screw the speakers into place. They are held in place by 2 screws, the lugs for the remaining holes sit on hooks cast into the dash. It is best to use the right screws (use ones from a speaker equipped nova) otherwise the speakers will rattle and resonate.

The speaker pods either side of the parcel shelf are for 10cm speakers, remove these and leave the pods empty, as it will provide porting for the air moved around by the sub.

If you fit 10cm speakers to the parcel shelf support, they won't be very audable over the sounds of the sub, however, when fitted to the dash, they are quite close to you and the results are impressive for such a small speaker (when you use a good quality speaker - e.g pioneer emotion series).

Yes, all the 3 sets are pioneer (but not emotion series.. the orange ones), and I bought the 3 sets with a bargain price. mine has a mk2 dashboard but I will check how can I dismantle my dashboard. Do u think that I should buy speaker pods?
