I have a standard GSi, and I am looking to do up my engine right now.
I was thinking of getting an FSE power boost valve, K n' N Panel Filter, and a Kent Cam.
...but the cam would be for an 8v, and would need changing when I get a bigger engine, or change to a 16v ?
Basically, what mods can I do now that I could still keep when I uprate my engine to say a 2 litre 16v ?
Anybody do me a conversion, whats the best place to go, and I dont want to spend the money Courtenay say!
Also, Courtenay suggest different dampers are needed for a normal engine and a heavier 2 litre ... is this really necessary?
(cos I was gonna get normal Bilstein Sprintlines)
How far do u go with mods, that is the question ... :-/

Following on from the great day at Santa Pod, its convinced me to get a 2litre 16v...
When DOING UP this engine, what parts would u recommend??
i.e I know about throttle bodies, what about camshaft, what air filter, is the FSE power boost valve different from the 1.6 GSi one?
And will any strut brace for a Nova do??

you want the red top engine. In the older cars. 150BHP rather than the 136 on the ecotecs. Astra gte 16v,astra/cav/early vectra gsi or cally
People have differing opinions on which cams are best. Really depends on how much you're willing to spend.
Stick to fast road cams rather than rally/race spec if you're wanting something that is still driveable at low revs.
usual stuff really
filter
exhaust
chip (courtenay group n if you can get one)
boost valve
are the cheaper upgrades
then you can look at
cams
headwork
then
throttle bodies
or twin webers

I've just been told that the Jetex exhaust won't fit onto the 2L 16v xe engine ... what mods would need to be done, or dont they make one for the 2 litre ????
