View Full Version : drink driving
help. i really dont want to get banned.
i was stopped by the rozzers and took to the cop shop.
my lowest breath sample on my test was. 61 ( molidules or whatever they measure it in) the highest 65. they said they take the lowest.
they have to do a calibration test before and after my tests. these both showed 35 ( with no one blowing on the machine) can anyone tell me if my score was high? and do you think i will be banned. i got 3 points in 2001 and 6 points in November 2003. any help would be greatfull. thanks

Did they say what the limit was?
If your a long way over it'll be an instant ban.
TBH though... anything over should be a ban.
they didnt say much. it was 1am and they must have had the dosey crew on shift because they didnt even know how to work the machine and the wpc kept swearing at it. dont really know alot about breath tests but i was 61 and the calibration was 35. so im wondering if 26 is alot, ( if u know what i mean )
how much did you have to drink - 4 units is the legal limit (which roughtly equates to two pints of normal 5% p!ss-strength beer, or <1 pint of proper strength 9-10% beer), but it varies how quickly it gets into the blood stream. Eating food with your alcohol slows it down loads for example.
The limits
Alcohol in the body can be measured in the breath, blood or urine. A driver will be found guilty of drink-driving if he or she has more than:
35 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath;
80 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood;
107 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of urine.
If the lower of the two breath readings the driver has given is under 39 microgrammes or below, they should be released either without charge or with a caution.
If the reading is between 40 and 50 microgrammes then they must be offered the option of providing an alternative specimin of either blood or urine.
If the lowest sample given is over 51 microgrammes per 100 milliliters of breath, the driver will be charged and sent to court. There will be a heavy fine and they will lose their driving license for at least 12 months.
Basically, if you had 61-65 thats almost double the limit. You're guaranteed a ban and a hefty fine (up to ?5,000), and may even face a prison sentence of up to 6 months.
So essentially, you're fcuked. Say goodbye to your license.
thanks jack..... for putting the ****s up me. haha. i've already said goodbye to the lisence. the cars sold c20xe's ment to be sold but he wont come for it and i have a few other parts ready to go... you seem to know alot about it. u eva bin dun? i had bin drinkin all day and had no food but had stopped about 6.30 ish and had my test at 12.30am ish. but i know it can still be in the system! thanks
you seem to know alot about it. u eva bin dun?
Nope, got the quoted information from Google though. I know what the legal limit is so I can keep well under it - the most I've ever had is one pint of bitter (1.8 units, and I'm far from a lightweight) and driven anywhere; any more than that and I won't drive. Can't risk it these days, and in my car its easy enough to hedge it when you're sober let alone as tanked up as a christmas pudding lol
The lack of food probably didn't help, but they say on average you need to allow at least an hour for every half pint for your liver to do its thing and cleanse your blood.
so im ****ed then...... thanx

not really the best topic to post about on a public forum
hopefuly you will learn from your mistake and when you get your licence back you will think of things in a different perspective!
good luck with public transport:D
got shafted there didnt i.....
you shafted yourself fella tbh
got shafted there didnt i.....
You could say you're in a real PICKLE
lollollollollollol
if you are convicted it will hurt your insurance big time over the next few years.
1 pint is enough for most people
2 pints and its a lottery if you are asked to breath it could be ether way, can you hold your booze? really??. even a hardened drinker wouldn't take that bet and blow in a bag if he had the choice with his/her licence in there hand with the law looking at them
3 they only have to smell the stuff and you can be arrested

should of opted for a blood or piss test at the station, as if its dropped then u may be lucky, if its higher well just hope you dont move up into the next class which razorjack has quoted on page 1. my mate got caught drink driving and had 65mg in 100 and he got 18 months ban or a year if he opts for a drink driving course, which he did.you get picked up for the course and its free and also its apparently very interesting but stupid e.g. he learnt that alcohol comes from fungus and that was his whole session, well no sh!t its made of yeast lol. he also got a ?220 fine which isnt too bad, i think the laws should be tougher to be honest.but im glad he did cos hes paying to fix my nova so i can pick him up occasionly as he lives out in a sh!thole called yeovil which is 20 mins from me and then bus is ?6 haha

1 pint is enough for most people
1 pint of stella is over the limit, there is no real measurement as different people can have different readings after drinking the same amount.
not somthing ive ever done to be honest, even if i have a pint i wont get behind the wheel. its just to unpredictable, and in my case, no license=no job. and thats then endof it.
your own fault, hopefully they will ban you and throw the book at you, only then will yu learn your lesson. harsh but true, and if you dont learn your lesson then you are more of a cock than we all thought.

you will get an 18 month ban or 12 months if u do some ****ty course, but worth it as it saves 6months, and if you have been driving over 2 years you dont have to retake test. it doesnt really vary as there are set guidelines for these kind of things as i was told when i went to court when my mate was caught, however cry about you need car for work etc and they may be a bit kinder but when you go court you will wonder why there is about 13 people sat in there when the guidelines are already set lol

1 pint of stella is over the limit, there is no real measurement as different people can have different readings after drinking the same amount.
Not exactly; Stella is what, 5%? One point will be approximately 2 units then. Whilst it can go into the blood stream faster in some people than others, you can't get more than the 2 units from it. However, it will affect people in different ways, so whilst some people can have 5 pints and be sober as a judge (albeit with a shagged liver lol), some only have to sip the stuff and be gone. Whilst technically, and legally, not "over the limit", the latter person could still pose a danger on the road and could still be nicked.
If in doubt, don't drink and drive at all.
As a point of reference, my sister's now ex-bf hedged his TT when bladdered. Not sure how much he'd had, but seen as he's Irish... lol... and he drove for about a mile with one wheel missing its tyre, you can imagine he was pretty hammered. Not sure of his fine amount, but he had a 12 month ban, reduced to either 8 or 9 months as he opted to take the safe driving course.
Funny thing is, he's still got the TT - spent ???? repairing it, but feck knows how he intends to insure it when he gets his license back!

He probably won't lol
i must admit that about 10 years ago i drove my car whilst i had a few.
when i got home i did stop and think about what i did and could have done.
sometimes you do stupid things in life, we all do.
i got away with doing something wrong and i have never ever done it again, so much so that i would rather walk or just drink coke then even think about driving again after a single pint. a shandy is tempting, but its tempting it full stop.
there are no excuses that anyone can give for what could of happened.
you will more then likely get banned, and tbh. its a realitity that you have to live with.
like i said at the start, we all do stupid things and you can only learn from them.
yeah if i have my car with me i wont drink anything except coke , it really isnt worth it ,
i got stoped about 2am new years eve , goin a bit fast through some contry roads on the way home from a party , copper thought he was goin to get himself a drink driver , lol i blew into the manchine and got a big fat 0 lol he just told me to slow down then
well if you get banned you will have to take a 1hr and 30mins retest pal cuz you got banned for drink driving , unlucky !
not always, depends on how far over you was. i know how you could get a lesser ban but im not gonna tell you as you deserve to be banned for whatever the magistrates decide :thumb:

True but Stella is 2.2 units, and you can fail a Breathalyzer after consuming that.
the roadside breathalizers are notourisouly unrealiable tho (my spelling sucks lol) thats why if you do fail your taken back to the station for a proper breath test
edit - when i was young and stupid i once passed a roadside breathalizer after 5pints of stella

Yeah there cr4p, but if it fails then your arrested...
only on suspicion of drink driving tho, i know of people whove failed the roadside one then got to the station and passed that one, swings and roundabouts really but the bottom line is you should have NONE when the cars outside
