For those contemplating cam choice on fairly well modded up engines (twin 40's etc) I have just fitted a Piper road rally cam (12.06mm lift -280 degree duration) after having been using Piper fast road (11.29mm lift -272 degree duration) The result is as Piper and other say i.e moves power band up the revs and lowers low down response and torque. For those of us boy racers ( rather than old fart tourers) its def. the way to go. Drop a cog, boot up the revs to 5000 and hold on. Its supposed to give +8hp over the fast road and I would say it does but more importantly it gives the power where you want it i.e. around 5 -7000rpm.:D:D:D

What is the best thing to look out for in a Camshaft?
say in a 2L 16v?

what does "degree duration" mean?? and all this "lift" stuff?
Is the higher the figures the better it is???

Educate me!!
