on the way home earlier was in a mates car, doin about 40 in 30, theres a speed camera facing the other way amd we was coming towards the camera, no other traffic about, it flashed as we went passed, altho the little lines painted on the road are the other side of the road only, do u reckon that would have picked us up?

I've had a picture taken by a gatso when i was traveling towards it and nothing ever came of it. I wouldn't worry about it too much, if it was a gatso (which most of them are) then they've probably got a picture of your roof.

If it flashed, its a Gatso and you probably won't get done as they're not supposed to flash in your face.

Truvelo are infra red, so you wouldn't see a flash.

To avoid the 'flash' which is given out by a rear facing Gatso camera the Truvelo system uses an infra red flash which produces no visible 'flash'
Its infra red! You won't see it! If it flashes, its a gatso. Bear in mind not all gatso are square boxes with two square holes in them

As jack said Truvelo's dont produce a visible flash.
They use infra red which a human eye can't see.
The work off lines in the road before the camera...

I've heard that gatso's can do both sides of the road tho....

A friend set one off doing 50 ish in a 40, travellng toward the camera (in terms of the flash) the lines were on the other side of the road, and nothing ever came of it.

I did >50mph towards a Gatso in a 30 one evening, ages ago - in my defence I didn't realise I'd gone into a 30 zone - and it flashed at me. Marks on both sides of the road, but heard nothing of it.

Fcuking blinded me though, nearly fell off the road as I couldn't see a damned thing. Thats why they won't prosecute you if a Gatso flashes in your face, as they're too scared of being sued if you crash as a result.

If an infa red camera produced a flash the image it records would be "over exposed" if you like.

Technically it wouldn't as infra red film is not sensitive to the visible light spectrum so it would have a nil effect on the image. However a regular Xenon flash would blind you with the flash heads used in a Gatso.

i couldnt see how a gatso with the lines on otherside of road could get you, as it would think you are doing minus 40 mph reversing, and they are not allowed to flash you in the face

The Nutbourne camera never has any film in it anyway! I was flashed by it a couple of years ago (with the flash in my rear view mirror) and nothing came of it, it happened to other locals round the area too around that time!
