Sorry me on again about gear ratios:D
Can anyone tell me what a late 1991"H"reg 1.4SR would be running in the way of a gearbox? I always thought this model had the 14NV engine but I could be wrong. It seems Haynes may have got it wrong as it suspected that there is an F13CR set of gears in there even tho' the 'box is clearly marked F10.
If not does anyone know of a good manual other than Haynes that may have these details?
Cheers

Nope, all sr's have an f10 to fit the 180mm clutch/flywheel.
I think they lowerd the ratios on the MK2 sr's, not sure from wot reg. i thought it would b the same but i noticed my m8s newer j-plate had lower ratios than my e-plate both having an f10 box. Cud b final drive i suppose.

Dicko, we know they have an F10 box, but the ratios listed in the Haynes manual don't tie up with actual road performance. I've sat down with a calculator and the formula for working it all out, and the closest match is the f13 gear cluster with a 4.18 final drive, but I'm not 100%. Its definately not the same as listed in the haynes manual. Anyway I've decided that the f10 box I had was far better than the current f13, so I'm gonna strip them down and swap a few bits around. We would just like to know for definate what is used in the f10/5cr box.

Ickle footer! :P

my j reg 1.4sr had gsi/sri style ratios with a different final drive
70mph @ 3500rpm in 5th in mine
f20 on 16v does 80mph at 3500rpm
gsi is inbetween?

16v Nova - Toolkit, Trouble, Points and great expence all come as standard :)

Having stripped the aforesaid F10 down I have discovered that it definitely has the F13/5CR cluster in it plus the final drive of 3.94:1 to go with it- MC's maybe different.
The main problems for me with the std 1.6 F13/5 are 16" rims with an FD ratio of 3.74:1. At 6500rpm in 4th I'm cracking 130mph and still pushing on for more which in this country is impractical most of the time. I would prefer to be around 110 - 120 at this stage.
