Hi, would like some advice. I have an Opel Corsa A (Vauxhall nova mk2). they said that their chassis is weaker than that of nova mk1 and 1.7 turbo diesel will crack the mk2 chassis. (my friends have mk1's with 1.7 and it looks ace) I need my car for everyday, would like some power but don't want to crack chassis. need a diesel engine as it is cheaper to insure and economical compared with petrol engines. what should I do to enforce the chassis for a 1.7td? Or should I go for 1,5td?

i dont think the chassi would crack, just make sure theres no rot on the chassi and if you want strengthen the engine bay a bit.

You should post in Mechanical mater...

Your mates are talking bollocks, if anything MK2 shells are stronger due to the application of seam sealer stopping rot ingress in some areas. If it worries you, get the bay welded before doing the engine swap.

mk1s were made with a better grade metal, mk 2 rot quicker lol
