40s on a 1.6.
Dont forget they get choked down to about 32ish mm for a 1.6.

The differece is the size. And 45s are more expensive to buy.

ok, i have the chance to own 40's and 45's......so the best way to go is 45's and get them re jetted for a 1.6,

what is the rough power differance between them also?

45s are too big for a 1.6, they are more suited 2.0+

Depends on other mods really. Have you done anything else to the engine like cams, exhaust, head work etc or is it standard?

got a piper cam and its being rebuilt at the mo,it will have a performance exhaust

aventually when funds are raised after the shell has been done, the head work etc will start

Get the 45s if cheap.
Sell them on.

Then buy 40s. They will give better low down torque, at a slight sacrifice of top end power, but Dan,Jims,Nick's engines all have 40s...

Around 130bhp is about the norm. With a decent cam, exhaust etc.

cm are NOT proper units! lol
MM or M, not sodding frenchy semi units.

as said, if you can get a decent set of 45's cheap (ie sub ?300) then do that, then sell them for ?500 and buy a T40 setup.

45's will work but they will be so heavily choked down that its a waste of money unless its a temporary stop gap till getting a 20xe or something.. but even then its a lot of money to spend setting up/getting manifold etc

that orange 1600 that featured in pv ages ago with ac cobra rear beam and tiger striped detailing had 45's and reckoned he had 155bhp???

I've stuck with 40's as thats wat's talked about and recomended by my tuner
