my bro is going to put a 1.6 corsa gsi lump in his nova and i was just wondering how hard it is to do, and if u need to do anything with the keys and stuff or is that just with newer vauxhalls. never done one of these before so thought i would ask first.:thumb:
i think the engine uses the same mounts as a nova and poss driveshafts, theres an inbuilt immob for the ecu that requires the same key as it left the factory altho someone got there ecu 'cleaned' for couple of ??? notes, basically its a straight swap methinks
yeah is a stright swop, but the inlet system on the corsa is pooh, try fitting T40's or dabiles inlet system to make it more pokey. or SBd208 kit if you have the dosh,
yeah the inlet is terrible, theres a guy on mig whos doing custom made inlets, quoted me ?150 for the kit
throttle bodis you know it make sence
160bhp com on !!!!
meh, bike carbs are the future
only if you can make inlets for them. still would work better ona independ magment system. draper you comin chelt?
You will need to use your Nova shafts as Corsa shafts are slightly longer.
If its a X16XE you will need the transponder from the donor car which is around steering columm and the chip from the key otherwise you won't be going far.
Also change the alternator pulleys to V-belt rather than the wide belt that the C/X16XE uses.
Other than that, easy.
If its from a corsa gsi i dont think you have to worry about the immobliser (c16xe). Its only the later engines x16xe
^ beat me to it..
nah no chelt now unfortunatly - toyed with the idea of getting the train down tho, again lol
id run bike carbs on independant management anyway as im having cams aswell and would like everything running tip-top
pocket pistion ? stop vavle bponce?
The std inlet is good for torque.
If you fit a inlet box your best getting it remapped too as your seriously shortening the inlet tract and you wont see too much of a power gain.
As already said C16xe will go straight in, you will have to cut and weld the exhaust manifold to fit a nova exhaust system.

well this engine has cams already and has been ported and polished! so might think about bike carbs for it. its a c16xe so should be all good
any 1 know what 1.6 16v engine is in the early vectra?
do they do a carb conversion for them ?
thanks
X16xel is in a vectra-100bhp.
Use a C16XE (no immob) and mate the top half of the corsa manifiold (exhaust) to a Nova GTE or GSI down pipe, bolts straight up!
Bin the inlet and put Twin 45s on with management (not cheap)
Or for laughs cheaply get an aftermarket inlet and raise your limiter with a chip and get arp bolts.
I'm going to be doin this conversion in a few weeks, were can i find mor einfo on "after market inlets" Btb Exhaust manifolds Tbs etc?
If i was to put a set of SBD TBs on it and a BTB/SBD Manifold and a good mappin session what sort of power/torque am i lookin at getting from the c16 xe engine
cheers Martin
SBD tb kits aint cheap.
The basic tb kit gets you to about 160bhp iirc.
The inlet boxes are said to give about 20bhp gain, need a remap tho to make good use from them.

Really?
yea ade i kno they aitn cheap, but cant find anywer that sells them inlet manifolds..
what would be the best exhaust manifold to get?
Dbilas sell a upper inlet from the X16XE, Mantzel are no longer trading under the Mantzel name but under Veltman, have a search on t'internet.
are the x16xe engines any good was considering putting one in my nova
Pretty much identical to c16xe.
Bit more wiring to fit one tho. And a different management system.
this might be a stupid question but would the c16xe inlet fit the x16xe

no, the c16xe has inlet has a flat bottomd inlet where as the x16xe has a raised lower in let and cut out on the upper, tis hard to explain but they are different at the bottom

however with the mantzel and replica inlets you need to use the x lower inlet,
