Get a rear bench with head rest holes in it already! I can't see a way of modifying non-headrest seats without looking at a bit of upholstry work, then securing the mounts inside the seat, then sewing it all back up again.

You can only do it on a 3/4 fold rear seat.
Basically feel the top of the seat to feel for the headrest guide holes.
Make a slit.

Push in two headrest plastic guides, and then push the headrest in.

actually ignore that - the guides missing - basically you need 3/4 rear split seats and a set of belmont headrest guides (I think you can get them from vauxhall still). You feel along the top of the seats till you feel a small hole - sheck for a similar one a little way along and mark them with a pen - make a small slit with sharp knife and drive the guides home all the way down. they need to go through 2 metal rows so the top and bottom are anchored in place - they will click in place once done. then just slide the headrests home

Alternatively you can remove the material from the back seat by lifting the card edge out and bending the foam back to reveal the inner meal frame - then you'll see the holes.

i found the easyest way was like ad said,
push ya thumb in till you feel the holes,
then push a screw driver thru in to them,
then a bigger screwdrive till you can get the guilds in,(mk2 astra ones i used from a rear bench with headrests) with the holes from kinda stretched out the guilds tight tight and dont rip..

how can you take the headrest guides out of say the sr rear 40/60 seats is it just a case of getting a flat head screwdriver and poping them out?? or if there in then there in for life?

some times yeah just use a flat blade screw driver...
but you might need to use the seat away...if you in the scrappy its not to bad...

but you'll need ones fron a mk2 astra/belmont with rear headrest...
as i've found non others fit...

i done this a few time and yes the way ive done it is as explained, another way is to get an old head rest as reference, press down really hard and locate one of the holes, then use the head and mark it against the hole found and locate the second hole.

also if not done properly in my experience when the car is idling they tend to rattle. so position it so they are not so free when pushed in.

SO IS THE ASTRA BELMONT THE HEAD REST GUIDES I NEED, AS IVE BEEN USING THE SAME GUIDES THAT GO ON THE FRONT SEATS. THEY DO FIT BUT SIT ABIT LOWER INTO THE SEAT AND DO LOOK ABIT ODD:confused:

TO TAKE THEM OUT, IF YOU LOOK AT A GUIDE BEFORE ITS INSERTED YOU CAN SEE THE BITS YOU NEED TO SQUEEZ TO RELEASE IT, THEN GET SOME NARROW NOSED PILIERS PUSH IT INTO THE SIDE OF THE GUIDES PRESS HARD AND PULL EM OUT.
