when filling up on petrol full tank would be 1/2 a tank on the gauge but last few weeks when its been full its been showing empty so i thought i would have a look so i looked under the car and seen tape wraped round some wires taken it off and found that there was two wires pushed in to a plug
the two wires was coming out of the sender does any one know if i could cut the plug off and connect the wires together:confused: thanks

Its more likely to be the clocks at fault than the sender which is in the fuel tank. My clocks packed up when it was really cold, and when it was really hot during the summer. Bizzarely enough, a sharp exit from a roundabout cured it! Try a spare set of clocks to see if the probelm persists, after putting the wire from the sender back to how they were. If you are faced with 2 lots of bare wires, get them soldered together and tape them back up.
