Ive been offered a janspeed system off a 1.3. Two questions

1. Will the exhalust fit the standard down pipe.

2. Will it improve the performance of drastically reduce it.

i would of though they' b exactly the same its the 1.4 onwards thats diff to the 1.2/1.3

Yep that exhaust will fit the 1.2 downpipe and maybe give you some increase in bhp but not a great deal, see if you can get the 1.3 head and swop that aswell if you want more bhp

No no no....to fit a 1.3 zorst onto a 1.2, you need the manifold and "twin-down-pipes" off of a 1.3

On the 1.2, the down-pipe is part of the centre section of the zorst, but on the 1.3, the down "pipes" (two of 'em) are a separate section that run from the manifold, down under the engine to near where the fire-wall is. The centre section then joins at this point with a sprung-joint. On the 1.2, the sprung joint it right at the front of the engine, just below the manifold.

Also, DO NOT fit the 1.3 head onto the 1.2 engine.....in reverse (1.2 head on the 1.3), that gives increased performance (higher compression, better flow), but putting a 1.3 head onto a 1.2 reduces the compression! You might get some benefits from using the 1.3 Cam though in the 1.2 engine.

I've not heard that expression before!

just go to a scrappy and get a 1.3 manifold+downpipe.
Otherwise get a nice new 1.3 4-branch manifold

there are 2 kinds of 1.3 manifold early and late early have like a dish in the middle

16v Nova - Toolkit, Trouble, Points and great expence all come as standard :)

How do you mean Ste? Dish between the out-let pipes??? I think mines a late type..I think the SR it came off was an F-plate, then again, I didn't fit that one...I used the one that came with the engine, which is an older engine originally with the 1B1 carb. I can't remember them looking different, but not sure :-/
