Is this a straight swap im looking at swapping the 1.4 Sr head, cam, dizzy, ignition coil, fuel pump (mech),the exhaust downpipe, and maybe inlet manifold

could all this be a straight swap onto a 1.2 engine? and would i get a fair amount of power from all this? as i have all these parts at a mates house for free

You'll loose power.

why would i loose power? ive heard on here somewere that the cam is quite good?

yes but the head isn't, put all the stuff you want into the 1.2 head

oh and either keep the 1.2 inlet, as you have no carb to put on the 1.4 inlet, or get a 1.4 carb and put it on a 1.3 inlet

oh ok then so if i put the cam in the 1.2 head that would be fine? and also would it make a difference if any to add the fuel pump dizzy and ign coil?

ok then mate ill be on the hunt for a 1.3 inlet but if the 1.4 carb was on wouldnt it be overfueling the engine because its for a 1.4 engine?

it may be hard fitting the 1.4 dizzy for a 1.2, the fuel pump wont make much difference i wouldn't have thought, the ignition coil may give you a better spark

trial and error then with the dizzy but thanks anyway mate the reason why the 1.4 ign coil would be good is that im instaling the 6 dial clocks from the sr which has a rev counter and i hate not having a rev counter lol could someone tell me how to wire the rev counter up?? i know its a different subject than the title but any help would be good

Keep with the 1.2 coil/dizzy, and fuel pump(which is same as 1.4 one).
The only thing worth fitting is a 1.4sr cam, even that wont give much gain tho.
The 1.4 exhaust manifold and downpipe would help too, but you'd then need a complete 1.4 exhaust system.

You could fit a 1.3 carb inlet, and a 1.3 carb, as thats a twin choke carb.

The reason for power loss is your taking a highish compression 1.2 head, with quite well flowing large ports, and replacing it with lower compression ****e port 1.4 head. Just because the head comes off a bigger engine doesn't always mean it will give a smaller engine more power ;)

ohh i see well i have the full exhaust system to fit to the 1.2 and i will fit yea 1.4 sr cam may aswell its going to be better than the 1.2 cam to be honest my mate has the 1.4 sr lump in working order but the car is shag**d and do not own an engine hoist

you can get the engine in and out with two people ;)

hi mate i did a novamk1 1.3sr lump 1.6cav head and carb and 1.4sr cam and for some reason it performed brill!

IIRC it's just one wire that goes to the empty spade terminal on the coil and then goes straight to the rev counter.

really? lol thats easy enough i suppose how would the novaloaders go about taking an engine out without an engine hoist?? just with a couple of people?? my guess is that when the engine is nealry out lift up and onto the floor with a jack then jack the car up and slide the engine out the bottom??? am i right??

if you fit the 1.4 cam thenyou will have to fit the 1.4 dizzy as the drive pin is different

ad thought you would have seen that lol

when we did a 1.2 to 1.4 conversion we dropped the old engine out of the bottom, then jacket the gearbox up as much as possible, then two of us just dropped the 1.4 in the top
