we all know the nova carb is...suspect to say the least, and mines no exception, i've looked at the carbs on tweeks, and was wondering if this would offer any gains or is just literally a direct replacement?

The replacement will be a weber 32/34 DTML.
Do give slighly better performance, smoother running.

And they have a manual choke too.

Ye weber 32/34s have manual chokes.

Keep an eye on ebay, they often sell on there.

would two of the direct replacements be exactly the same as twin 40's?? and would any 32/34 fit onto the 1.4 inlet? as i've seen them for different car models?

32/34 is a downdraught twin barrel carb.
DCOE 40 are sidedrafts.
Completely different carbs.

You have to get a alloy adaptor plate to fit the 32/34 to a 1.4 inlet
