I have a mk1 1300 sr.
On friday i took the brakes off the car and the brake lines that attach to the calipers. I put new brake discs, new calipers and new brake lines on and the brakes didnt work at all. We bled the brakes and still nothing.
We put the old calipers, discs and lines back on and still no brakes.
So now my car has no brakes at all. Foot to the floor and nothing.
This was only done at the front. We didnt change anything at the back.
The brakes were fine when we started.

Any help would be appreiciated :thumb: :)
Thanks
Phil

sounds like you've not bled the brakes well enough or the master cyl has failed. did you bleed the brakes manually, ie with a mate pumping the pedal, or with a hydraulic bleeder? did you re bleed ALL brakes? Was fluid running clear with no air?

Are the bleed nipples at the top?

not sure its at a mates house. would that make a difference? and are they suppose to be at the top?

Yeah they are supposed to be at the top to let the air out. If they're at the bottom then you'll just pump fluid out and leave all the air in. If the bleed nipples are at the bottom then swap the calipers onto opposite sides.

Stupid question alert: Upon reading your first post you don't mention pads, lol.

just rang my mate (whos in the bath) and he says off the top of his head they are in the middle to the bottom if that sounds right

Then the calipers are on the wrong sides. They should be this way up:

would this cause the pedal to travel right down to the floor, and i only have the standard 1300 brakes on the car

Yes. Because there will be air in the system, which means that when you press the pedal it just compresses the air, rather than the hydraulic fluid moving the piston in the brakes.

even though we bled the brakes and the fluid was clear?

With the nipple at the bottom when you try bleed them you will get fluid come out, but any air has risen to the top of the brake caliper cylinder, so even tho fluid gets bled out the air remains in.

shall go round my mates after and get the nova back on the road
