Iraqi sniper films himself picking off american troops in Baghdad. 28 minutes worth of video - quite shocking stuff to be honest.

It'll be removed from googlevideo soon though so take a peek while you can if you're interested.

i know this is going to sound really harsh, and im sorry to the family that have been put at stress due to the deaths!

BUT it is war, what the hell are they doing standing around like sitting ducks?

where are the counter snipers and spotters ?

14mins 18seconds, what the ****, there leaning up a truck talking

25miins 35 seconds, antoehr what the ****, some one gets shot, and another person, gets up from the protection from his truck

you can't be alert 100% of the time ... if there is no perceived threat they'll relax until there is evidence of a threat. If a guy in a building decides to lean out his window and shoot at them, all the alertness in the world wouldnt help.

Also - you don't know the situation surrounding where they are. Technically speaking its no longer a war, its a peacekeeping exercise... them taking time to chill out and just be "a presence" helps to keep the peace as they're not being actively hostile.

get the brits and yanks out of there and bomb the lot, ows that for peace keeping! ;)

just does my head in, there should allway be at least one person alert, even so he will be able to see/hear where the shot come from!

lol hadnt thought of that.

Might have to mission it home on my lunch break in the hope that its still there. :thumb:

If it was me... I'd lob a smoke grenade... roadie run to the nearest cover, do a roll behind the next wall... flank him... come up behind him and frag tag his ass... (sorry been playing to much GOW)

dunno... the one where the truck drives past half a second after he fires, if he shoots and moves, and does a runner out the back of the building he shot from, he'd be long gone by the time they've finished dragging injured guy to safety behind the hummer.

Agreed though... napalm all the side-streets.

my point, they should see where the shot come from in the first place!

yes but they dont, they get up from there cover, look that there mates been shot,

1) duck
2) find where the shot come from
3) blow his ass
4) help mate!

not,
1) get up look at mate
2) get shot

That's probably a more accurate description of 90% of my time playing GOW.
Its embarrasing being beaten by a 12 year old YANK.

I havn't watched the film as I cant see it at work. However, how can you comment on how they/you should/would react. Have you ever become under fire? Do you know how loud it is when a bullet goes screaming past you? Major adrenaline time I would imagine.

What should happen however, whenever stopped in an hostile environment is all round defence, meaning that 360degrees of the group's position is being monitored. The more people you have to cover this the more chance you have of seeing a shot. A shot is easily seen this way. Then a fire order should be called which gives the exact position of the original shot. Covering fire is laid to force the attacker to take cover (cant shoot again if taking cover), as the covering fires is laid the wounded can be attended to and the group can extract in safety.

However, serving in that area for 12months +at a time then concertration levels will drop, as it does in any job, thats why we british dont deploy for that long.

Very hard to be aware 100% of the time, how long were we in northern Ireland and people were getting shot/blown up right to the end of our time there, terrible but true.
