Remote Central Locking

At random times the passenger side lock keeps making a whiring sound, quite loudly. Also sometimes the lock doesn't pop up/down when it should. Someone has told me that its a dodgey earth, any one help?

Ok im not very good at knowing what to check, any help?

ive not "played" with central locking but i guess that the earth will either be where the lock bolts to the bodywork or a lead coming out of the motor and connecting to the body like that. in both cases make sure the bodywork around the earth is clean and free of rust/crap, might be worth putting some copper grease on it to stop this again
