tightening head

just about to fit head got cam and bottom end on marks.now is it ok to put pressure on cam to compress the valves while tightening head bolts or no?

no theres no need, just tighten them properly:

25nm
60 degress more
60 degrees more
run engine until fan kicks in
then tighten a futher 40 degrees

As you tighten each head bolt a bit at a time, the cam will push down on the rockers.
