when i turn the engine on and crank up the heaters i occassionaly get a strong wiff of petrol. any ideas?

check the pipe that goes from your fuel regulator to (I think it goes to the alternator).Its probably perished at the end, the go quite frequently.

Do you use the gas pedal when u start?

Are u supposed to use the gas pedal?
sometimes the car dont start without it and would keep churning round...
(in me old Nova anyway)
