i have a 1.6 but its not fast enough which one is the better buy both cost ?2500 and give 150bhp? and i know 2 litre is heavier so it grips better but a dump vavle would be nice

p.s no i dont want a 2litre turbo engine i am only 20

?2500 for a 16v conversion?
pop round to mine i've just bought a mint 16v astra and a mint nova gsi built a 16v nova with the 2 cars and i'm waiting for your ?2500 and ur car as a swap!! :D (i'll make a killer proffit)

get real mate a 16v conversion can be done for under ?800 and the turbo conversion for the same money

I've got a Courtenay prep'd 1.6 turbo.

I dont think it can be done for 800 quid. The turbo alone is about ?650 + vat.

I've never raced a 16v Nova so I cant really say what it'll do in comparison. I'd expect the 16v to pull a better top end purely due to the gearing difference between the F13CR and F16/20.

It's quite a nippy car although you wont want to be pushing the engine anywhere past the 9psi thats required for true 150bhp - the bottom end and gearbox will die horribly. Mine only runs 6psi and happily goes off the clock and lights the wheels up in the dry.

Having said that I would love a 16v Turbo next....You'll always want more.

The 16v will be quicker off of the mark also. It has instant torque and power and doesn't have to wait for the turbo to spin up. The other thing is that with the turbo conversion, thats about it, u cant increase the power much more without sacraficing reliability yet the 16v lump sits there begging to be played with. U might not want more power now, but I guarantee u will one day.

Have u ever thought about carbs? I`m not sure, but I think a Nova can go guite well using them. ;)

The Turbo Doctor doesn't lower the compression of the engine...

he builds cars that fcukin fly for 6-12 months, then explode...lol

i've heard a few good stories about his conversions, but i've also heard sum stories about his conversions blowing the engine through the bonnet...lol (not literally...lol)

the red nova GTE turbo he built was awesomely quick...kept 1" off the back bumper of a cossie up to around a ton...

then again, he had a hybrid, chip, cam etc etc

thats all ok if your a walking haynes manual like u ste...lol

us "can only just change a wheel" guys have to pay sum 1 to put this new engine in, lower the compression, re-fit the turbo/manifold etc to another GTE engine...:(

fancy selling your brain ste?!??! lol

they are injection as standard but you can put carbs on.

MC and CP have put carbs on 1.6i engines and Chris T has done it to a 2.0i 8v and soon a 2.0i 16v

Good girls go to heaven, bad girls come with me :D

you can put carbs on a 2.0 16v!!!! there are loads around and they sound amazing, although throttle bodies would be better!!! and maybe bore the engine out a little! mmmmmmmm power!!

and then of course........NITROUS!!!!!!! wahoooo!!!!

2.0 16v on its way soon!!!! :D
