As you are going for the heavier engine option I'd probably advise to get the front end seam welded and plated. Theres a kit available from Harry Hockley Motorsport..Or ASW. I think the url for Harry Hockley is www.hh-ms.com

I know that not all 16v Nova's crack up...But it has been known so I wouldn't like to take the chance. Plus a bit of welding can't hurt the handling can it?!?

depends on the condition of the car
mine has done 30k+ and is fine with no welding

Harry Hockley do the kit for ?76.56 +vat.

It is a plate to weld. ...strengthens where the engine mounts are, the front panel and near inner wings; u also get some washers to weld in to, to cover up the existing holes somewhere.

(I just phoned them out of interest!)

buy the engine for around ?500 to ?600, strengthening kit is about ?90 inc vat, driveshafts ?not sure I got 2nd hand ones. Engine mount for front of engine about ?30 or so.
Then however much it costs to hire an engine lift when you put the engine in.

Then unless you know how to do the wiring, you will need someone to sort that out for you aswell.

I am going to attempt fitting the engine and stuff myself, but I am not doing the welding and strengthening myself, a garage is doing that for me. and then hopefully I will be able to talk Ste into coming down and giving me a hand with the wiring. :)

2.0 16v on its way soon!!!! :D

the seam sealer doesnt crack with a 1.2i engine unless its rotten or its lowerd more than 60mm and its likley to bottom out
