Ye, the light wire goes to the same sender, the second wire runs the guage.
The wire colours are Blue/Green, and Blue/Yellow

dose it matter which way they go on the sensor

Yeh.
But the sensor has one plug, and one male terminal.
So you can only fit the wire with the plug onto the plug terminal, and the wire with the metal spade type connector onto the other one.

The black/yellow wire is for a SR's autochoke electrical connection.
Not needed unless you have a sr carb.

Off the top of my head i can't remember what wire goes where, but look on the back of the clocks and the 2nd wire(for the guage) is on a spade connector and not wired in the clocks plug itself.
Im 75% sure the plug wire is blue/green, and the small metal terminal is blue/yellow. It may be the other way round tho,Lol.

Just had a look at Haynes wiring diagram.

Blue/Yellow goes to the small metal pin connector on the sender.
Blue/Green goes to the plastic plug.
